task 1: Perspectives
MotherThe Mother was probably not a big fan of war. She thinks that war is strange and war splits up her family. For her, war was not the battlefield in which thousands' died but for her, war was waiting for her son to reply and for her to know that he was alive. The mother faces war of making sure that her family is okay and that everybody is safe and well. A battlefield means nothing to her except that her son may be laying dead on it. The challenges the mother faces during the war is hearing from her son. This is the most important thing to her right now because she knows that her son is on the battle field and even though she misses her son a lot, her first challenge is letting her son go and the second challenge is accepting his dead but even after days of not hearing from her son, she wouldn't give up and she was keen to find out what happened to her son. Her challenge was to be emotionally stable during war and taking care of the family that she has close to her.
The mother did not face the same war as the private because she was not physically present in the war but all her thoughts were at the war and she was hoping that her son would make it through and live and that their family would be one again while the private must be hoping to not take his final breath but, in a way they did face the same battle because they were both worried about loved ones, one was worried to get her son back and the other was worried to get back to his wife. |
THE PRIVATEThe private felt differently about the war than the mother did because he was fighting the war. He was worried about not making it back to his wife and kids. He probably thought that this war was important to declare freedom and make the world a better place to live in for his children and wife and other's loved ones. The private fought the was by physically being present in the battlefield with weapons. The private saw people die and he died for his country as well. The private fought the war by leaving home to protect his country, he sacrificed being with his family to make it save for them.
The private faced a lot of challenges. One of the challenges include being able to survive amongst the war. His second challenge was not getting diseases, eating and having to kill so many who were fighting for their country as well. His last challenge, was staying away from his family with the thought that he might never see them again and never get to spend any more time with them and he probably had some friends in the army who died, he will never get to see them too. Th private and the mother did not experience the same war. Even though the private also feared for his loved ones, the private physically got injured and killed people and had the guts to do that. The actually fought for his country. |
Diary Entry
Imagine my surprise when me and my “friends” were walking down from our campsite to area B to attack when people ahead of us but still far away started to fall down like those in the domino effect. Our weapons were ready, our hands ready to pull the trigger when we realized that we couldn't see anybody attacking. We couldn’t see anybody and all of a sudden, we couldn't see anything. After a while, we heard a bang and then we saw clouds but not ordinary clouds, we saw clouds of yellow and green. “PUT ON YOUR MASKS” somebody yelled before loud noises of coughing and choking followed. I couldn't quite register what was going on when it hit me, there was toxic gas approaching me from far ahead at a pace faster than light. Within seconds, I was reaching for my gas mask and clearly that action had been too slow for some of my buddies as I like to call them, as I saw Robb lying motionless on the floor with Bob and Joe. They were good lads, saved my life a lot of times. 1 second passed by when the mask was on my face but lesser time was taken by the toxic gas to surround me. I felt the wound that I got earlier today burn, I was lucky to be able to still fight but the amount of toxic gas my wound took in was worse than that. It was almost like the life was being sucked out of my body by a bloodthirsty killer. My eyes were burning even though I had my mask on. My legs felt numb and I fell to the ground with a thud and from the little that I could see, i saw figures, they were motionless shapes. It was then when I thought that I would become a motionless shape like them but in a few minutes notice, as my eyes closed for the very last time, I was being dragged through the area and I remember hearing faint sounds which were more like whispers to me, whispering “Billy, you’ll live.”
